Chantal’s Influence Tips #10 : The 2 C’s in your Head

You can think of your inner chatter as having different roles….the Critical & the Coach.
The Critical voice points out your mistakes. It makes you feel unresourceful, anxious or lacking in some way. It focuses on faults, weaknesses. It’s fearful.
The Coach in you is like a trusted friend. It’s honest and encouraging. It reminds you that you’re talented and wise. It reminds you that you have all the resources you need. It recognises mistakes as feedback and learning.
Start to notice which C spends most time with you (and share this distinction with others).
When you notice the Critical has sneaked in, pause the chatter and ask yourself;
What would the Coach say instead?
